🌟 Meet Our Grassroots Age-Level Director – Amer Assem, PMP
We are thrilled to announce Amer Assem as the Grassroots Age-Level Director (ALD) for Stars Soccer Academy!
Amer previously led the Grassroots Program for SW Sting FC, where he made a remarkable impact on youth player development across Edmonton.
A Children’s License Certified Soccer Coach, Technical Trainer, and Project Management Professional (PMP), Amer brings a wealth of experience coaching across multiple grassroots and age-level groups. His leadership has guided teams to impressive achievements — from City Finals Championships to Alberta Provincials Titles.
As the Grassroots ALD, Amer is now focused on:
- Driving player development across Edmonton communities
- Supporting Academy growth through well-structured grassroots programs
- Creating an inclusive, supportive, and growth-focused environment for young players
Amer is known for his positive coaching style, emphasizing listening, empathy, rapport-building, and always keeping the kids’ best interests at heart. His approachable nature and open-minded attitude make him one of the most respected figures in youth soccer coaching.
Beyond the field, Amer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, has worked as a civilian member with the Edmonton Police Service for 7 years, and is deeply committed to community involvement and youth mentorship.
Family is a core value for Amer. He’s a proud father of four talented kids:
- Habib Assem – plays for the University of Alberta soccer team
- Karim Assem – a passionate basketball player
- His daughter transitioned from soccer and volleyball to basketball
- His youngest, affectionately known as the “family trouble-maker,” currently plays for Juventus Tier 1 U12, competing one level up!
Amer truly believes in providing value to both players and parents through every program he leads — blending technical development, personal growth, and fun.
